Devils Lake Archive

The Devils Lake Archive marks the first official House of Coe excavation.

Inspired by the vast waters, shifting skies, hidden depths, and windswept shorelines of Devils Lake, North Dakota, this archive documents a place where beauty is never static. Colors shift with the light, surfaces conceal unexpected depths, and no two moments ever appear quite the same.

Created during an annual journey undertaken in honor of family, tradition, and the stories that continue long after those who first told them, each artifact in this archive carries traces of the water, weather, memories, and wonder that inspired it.

Each artifact within the Devils Lake Archive is one of one. No two are alike, and none will ever be recreated.

When an artifact is claimed, it does not disappear. It simply leaves the archive and passes into the care of a new custodian.

Its record remains. Its provenance continues. Its story grows.
