Cathedral Ember
Cathedral Ember was recovered alongside a series of amber-toned crystalline growths believed to have formed under prolonged exposure to heat, smoke, and memory. Unlike its companion specimen, Whiskey Cathedral, this artifact appears darker at its foundation, as though preserving traces of ash beneath its luminous spires.
When observed under ambient conditions, the specimen remains quiet and contemplative. Museum uplighting reveals suspended veils of smoke-darkened inclusions and ember-like shimmer captured within the crystalline structure, giving the impression of a fire still smoldering long after the sanctuary has emptied.
Researchers remain uncertain whether Cathedral Ember documents the beginning of a flame, or the final warmth left behind after one has passed.
Observe closely. Some fires are extinguished. Others simply learn how to glow more softly.
